Serious question.

I tried looking for it on the internet and all I get is anti abortion stuff.

If you know, let me know.

Thanks!

I would assume that it depends on their contract.

Abortionists are doctors--not specialists that ONLY do abortions

Try looking for the pay scale of your average OB/GYN instead.

Thanks Synnen.

I know that you go to medical school, specialize in OB/GYN and so on to be able to perform abortions.

I wouldn't like some Everest 9 month program graduate to be preforming abortions- eesh.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am very uncomfortable with this phrase and the subject line here.

Doctors are NOT abortionists. Doctors perform abortions. Abortions are generally performed by OB/Gyns. Abortion is a procedure and patients pay for the procedure. Early term abortions generally cost about $300-$600 (National Abortion Federation: Economics of Abortion (http://www.prochoice.org/about_abortion/facts/economics.html)). Is that what you want to know?

There are various types of abortion clinics, some are doctor owned, so the doctor merely mades the profit form the services done

Others like many clinics are owned by goups that merely hire doctors to work there. I would assume they try to hire the best but the lowest cost they can.

The money would be mostly below average for a doctor merely hired into the clinics but the profit is in the ownership, as in most medical practice

I believe that I was (badly) trying to say what you said, Scott--that DOCTORS perform abortions, and that she should look for the payscale of an OB/Gyn if she was just looking for the yearly payrate of the type of doctor that generally performs abortions.

My apologies--I was not trying to offend, merely clarify.

I was also uncomfortable calling you out on it, because I knew you were trying to say what I did.

I just don't like the word. It conjures up images of hotel rooms and wire hangers from before Roe v Wade.
