I live in greece in a very old house that was renovated 6 years ago. Every fall, about ten days after I turn on the furnace, I get this horrible smell in my basement bedroom. It almost smells as if an animal is rotting in my bedroom. The smell continues for about 5 or 6 days and then about 50 blow-flies appear every morning. It's driving me crazy, I can't sleep because of the smell. Can somebody help me??

Someone suggested that we might have a dead animal somewhere. We've looked all over the house and it is not possible, we have no crawl spaces, double glazed windows and doors and all doors and windows have screens on them. It doesn't matter how much we look/smell we can find no source to the smell. It just seems to be lingering. We're really getting desperate, last night we had to bail out in sleep in the living room. Please somebody, we're at the end of our wits!!

Maybe you do have a dead animal somewhere, it happens.

Are there companies there that perform furnace and duct cleaning? Since the smell is coming from the furnace unit, that would seem like the logical place to start.

Check your vagina, vaginal stench similar to dead animals is very common.
