Ok, I bought this house a few months back and I updated a lot but did not update the bathroom yet.

Now there is a great 4000 dollar one that is remote controlled but since I am not rich, I am wondering any good recommendations.

1. not over expensive,
2. would like lower water usage
3. tall enough for people that will be up in years while still using them hopefully.

Hi Chuck, this won't answer your question but are my thoughts on remote control toilets. It's the same as remote control cars where people walk away pressing a button to lock up their car and it honks. That always irks me, don't know why. They probably do because they can. They don't even look back while they are doing it. Okay, so this brings up this option for a remote control toilet. So you do you your business, press a button while walking away, and then it flushes ? Or are they like the new toilets in state of the art restaurants that flush just as you are standing up? Just wondering.

I personally like the new lower tank models that save water at a flush.

Hi Fr. Chuck...

My favorite brand for most homes is made by Kohler. They are sold at all home depot and Lowe's stores that I know of. They are reasonable price, have a great flush for a 1.6 gallon toilet and if you order the elongated version you can get them with an extra 2 inches of overall height on the bowl... ADA compliant.

The same company that makes that $4000.00 toilet also makes a reasonably priced toilet that works great, too. That company is TOTO. In my area, Toto toilets are only available at a local plumbing supply store or online. You'd be best to check local so you can see which toilet is best.

No matter what toilet you purchase just make sure that the toilet has that SIPHON JET hole in the base of the toilet and you should be fine.

TICKLE... some of these toilets take your blood pressure, your blood sugar and wipe your a** and warm it, too. Now if you want to talk odd let's talk about the guy that had so much damn money he actually ordered a gold-plated toilet, faucet, toilet handle, toilet paper holder and all other accessories for his crazy bathroom.

Was shopping in Toronto two weeks ago and we visited the high end Tlley Endurables store in Scarborough. They make the travel clothing that doesn't wrinkle or crease, etc. They had the most amazing customer facility with a toilet/bidette arrangement. Buttons on the wall to pick your water pressure, type of water, lemon water, and what strength you wanted your privates cleaned with. I have a bidette at home but this took the cake, and I was in there longer then necessary trying all the buttons !

You have to love technology !

I bought a Toto after doing a bathroom re-model & reading all the positive reviews. I'm VERY happy with it & would highly recommend Toto.
The plumbing supply place where I bought the Toto also recommended the American Standard Tropic Cadet 3 Flowise or the Champion 4.
If I hadn't gone with the Toto, I would have picked one from American Standard.
Don't believe you'd go wrong with any of those 3.
