I am failing to see my camcorder (Sony DCR-TRV330) despite having loaded the USB driver for it. If I open the software that I am using to capture (MGI Viedo Wave III) including the standard moviemaker it says no video capture device has been detected. Can anyone help. I am beginning to wonder if this is possible at all to connect my camcorder direct using the USB cable to my computer. I am running XP Sp2

Did you get the driver here:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRTRV330&UpdateType=Everything&SelectOS=7

If so, I would contact Sony's tech support for help connecting. Once you plug in the camera it should appear under My Computer as a video capture.

That's the exact site where I downloaded the USB sony drivers. I managed to see something on this site where someone was saying this model of camera only works if you use a DV-i cable and not USB cable. I am still looking for this cable. I will let you know. Thanks Scott

I am having the same problem as you. I have mgi videowave as well. When I click capture it just captures the audio and that's it.I have a i.link cable and some other cable as well as a usb. I have tried all of them and it doesn't work. If anyone else knows how to fix it please tell me!!

All you have to do is go to eBay and buy a video capture card. It should come with firewire ports. I bought a video capture card and it came with firewire ports and a cord. Once you plug the card into your motherdrive then the computer will recognize your video camera and you can capture it! When I ordered the thing off eBay it also came with ulead video studio 8. mgi videowave 5 sucks. I would use windows movie maker to capture it if I were you.
