My thermostat turns on, I hear the gas burner ignite, but the blower doesn't come on and I'm getting strong smell of something burning like electric motor or wire something like burnt hair on electric coil. I listened and heard a high pitch sound(like blower trying to start), but no blower. I then shut thermostat off for a couple hours and turned thermostat back on, and everything is working again. I'm afraid something may catch on fire though, especially at night or when I'm not home.

Blower fan motor not working or won't turn on, thermostat comes on, gas burner ignites, but fan blower won't come on. Smelled something burning like hair on electric coil. Turned off thermostat for 2 hours, and everything works fine now, but am afraid may catch on fire when not home or at night when asleep.

It seems your blower motor might be defective. If the blower will not run after a few minutes (TURN OFF POWER ) and slowly reach into the area of the blower motor. A lite touch will tell you if the motor is overheated but from what you have said I would plan on replacing. An Amprobe tool will also tell you if it is defective from excessive current draw.
