My father physically, verbally, emotionally and psychologically abused my Mum, my brother and myself from the age I was 4 till 24. Watching him abuse and attack my Mum and my brother was bad enough, I tried to step in to stop them from getting hurt. My sister and baby brother virtually escaped his wrath. We often had to seek refuge at my Aunts house especially when I was younger. I am still struggling today even though I am just 42, and find it hard to trust people, and feel suicidal almost on a daily basis. My local mental health team haven't been very helpful over the last 9 years and only recently were asked by the acute inpatient team to fund a psychologist, but now they are pulling funding on her in about 2 months. I want to know if I can charge my father even though it has been so long. I live in NZ. Please HELP me!!

I truly believe that you are allowed too, the only question you have is a) you don't have the proof, so it may be harder. No I am not saying that I don't trust you, I am saying what the court/a lawyer may say. Because of the fact that it was such a long period time. Does, that make sense!

Sorry no, while you could report it, and that may make you feel better, the statue of limitation on child abuse or assult has long ago passed.

And you need to look at moving on in life, not looking back, what happened is over and nothing can change it.

Depending on where you live, in most US states, there is mental help counseling based on income, you will have to pay some

I assume they have statutes of limitations in New Zealand.
