I just got a dwarf hampster for Christmas and she was a few months old before I got her. The last time she was active was last night like at 3:00AM the last time I woke up at night. When I went to see her she was sleeping in a place she normally doesn't and I tried to poke her to see what she did and she didn't move her eyes have been shut ever since. She doesn't move much but she has been shaking a little. She normally won't let you pet her and she is very active she runs a lot. This is the first time I've held her because she's so fast. Her tail area is yellow (urine?) I don't know if she has wettail or not? Not sure what that is? Anyway does anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks!

If it is wet tail then there's nothing you can do but make her comfortable.

Hamsters are less active in winter, they hibernate in the wild and their captive kin do the same. The thing is, most hamsters, even when sleeping more during the winter, can be roused.

Is the room she's in warm enough? If she's shaking and sleeping a lot it may be that the room isn't warm enough for her.

Good luck.
