I have installed a P trap on my kitchen sink. (new counter tops old trap was off my an inch). Once everything is installed (with the compression ring), I expereince no leaks. Occasionally when there is a sink full of water (after doing the dishes) and it's released and the garbage disposal is ran, the assemby at the bend with the compression ring separates and all of the water of course hits the floor. What am I doing wrong?

I have installed a P trap on my kitchen sink. (new counter tops old trap was off my an inch). And did you use fittings to line things up or did you force the new trap to line up? Sounds like the compression nut's connected at a strain and the vibration from the disposal's enough to slip the threads. Take the trap apart and make sure you have all the fittings lined up before you tighten things up. Good luck, tom
