Can a remote operated Hampton Bay ceiling fan/light be wired to work with a standard wall mounted dimmer switch? Our remote is broken and we do not have an extra and would like to avoid purchasing an new remote.

You can remove the receiver from most fan canopies and wire the fan and light as hardwired but you might likely will not be able to control the light and fan separately. The old remote had one hot going to the receiver, the receiver sent out either fan or light of both. You can't use a"standard wall mounted dimmer" to control a fan, it must be a dimmer designed for a fan, they are stepped

Does the fan have pullchains?

ballengerb1----i am researching if I can remove the receiver from my fan so as to wire it directly to a wall switch with separate light and fan. I asked the actual manufacturer of the fan, and they say no as well. I can handle not being supported by them, as long as I can get to the 3 needed wires inside the fan.
