My black Betta fish does not seem to be doing all that well.

He barely eats, if at all, and his tummy is slightly bloated. Also, The ends of some his fins are breaking off. I can see the pieces at the bottom of the tank.

This happened when I changed his water 2 days ago. I didn't do anything differently except put about a half a teaspoon of aquarium salt in there. The other two fish got it in their tanks too and they're doing okay.

He ate 1 small pellet just a bit ago for me this morning, but he would spit the others out.

He still swims around and floats at the top, occasionally resting on the bottom.

Do you think that maybe I should change his water again in case the salt or something isn't working for him?

Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

He might have bloat. I think sometimes fish can catch disease that are in regular tap water. One time I got a strange algea in my tank and it came right after a water change... Ive also noticed my tank has a strange smell to it twice a year. I've found that it was due to water testing that the city did during those times.

Get your fish on a medication that takes care of bloat. Make sure the water is warm during this time and try not to dirty his tank up too much with left over food. When fish get sick, its best not to move them around too much. If you can, exchange water out by scooping out a couple cups at a time while you are medicating the fish.

Peas are supposedly a magic cure for a lot of fish problems.
A friend of mines was showing similar symptoms to yours, they fed it a mushed up pea a few times and he was fine.
I'm not saying it will work for you but it's worth a try.

I put in some anti fungal medication for the fins, and now he looks a little better. His bloating has gone way down, and he ate a small piece of a bloodworm for me.
He's also being fiesty, so I'm not sure what happened with him, but what I do know is that He's looking a bit better for now. I still want to keep an eye on him though.

My boyfriend's Betta (seperate tank) has a fungus on his fins that I'm treating right now. (I'm fishsitting) it kind of looks fuzzy. The fungus seems to be slowqly coming off. He had it before the water change and everything, So I'm going to keep treating him. That one is always bloated slightly, I think it's constipated from the food because after I fed it a piece of a pea it went down, so I fed it little bits of peas every once and a while for a few days and it got a bit better, but he's still swollen.

My boyfriend said that that fish is always a little fat, So I don't know if he should change the food from pellets to something else, but I'm kind of worried about that little guy too.

I don't think Ive ever heard of a fat fish before lol. I remember when all my cichlids were babies and they just got fed bloodworms and brine shrimp, they would all have extended bellies from the food. So fish getting bellies after eating I don't think is unheard of... but if the belly stays extended after a couple of hours then I would be worried... But as long as the fish is eating, then they should respond quickly to any medication... Its when they stop eating is when you're in trouble..

Yeah my boyfreinds fish always has an extended belly, I don't know if he's constipated or just fat.. .
