I got pulled over today going 17 MPH over the speed limit and without having insurance. The cop told me I needed to show proof that I had insurance today in order to get the 1000$ fee dropped.
I got home about 15 minutes later and ordered insurance, technically saying I had insurance today.
I'm in debt, I have no spare money, this (another) ticket delayed my entry into the air force, and I am hoping to god that this works in court.
What are my chances of getting it dropped?

It really doesn't matter at this point. Judges can be strict or give a break, you need a break because you were not insured at the time you were ticketed. Hope the judge is in a good mood or you have a lawyer

Depends upon the State - In NY the Judges are not going to be fooled by the "technicality" concerning your insurance because insurance is written effective at Midnight, which in your case would be Midnight that day, AFTER the ticket was issued.
I cannot speak for other States but NY is harsh on uninsured drivers.
I'm a liability investigator - I see uninsured drivers and vehicles all the time. In NY your Drivers License can be suspended for this offensive.
I am somewhat confused. I thought you were leaving for basic training last September and you've already discussed the issue of insurance (although it was concerning a bike) on this site. https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/insurance/parents-responsible-340096.html

Well thanks for the information, I'll see what happens because I've seen this judge a few times before for petty issues and he's cut me slack all three times in the past.
And to go off-topic a wee-bit, yes I was issued to leave last September on the 18th, the week before I got a black eye and my recruiter delayed my enlistment. It was pushed all the way to this march, and now I got this and I really don't want this to delay my enlistment again so I'm going to have to take care of it within this week.
And yes that is when I was living underneath my parents roof, which isn't the case now.

How long were you uninsured?

I've had the bike for about 6 months. I don't ride it because it doesn't have insurance. But there are just sometimes when my buddies car isn't available.
