I'm confused. Did you have 12 negative tests or 9?
It could be anything at your age - do you have a Gynecologist?

Did you go to the doctor to see if maybe you are starting the early stages of menopause? Given your age it is a good possibility. Or it is possible that you are under a lot of stress which is proven to make women late on their periods.

I'm 39 and my periods are already very off from what they used to be. Perimenopause can last for 10 years or more. At the age of 44 it's very likely that this is what's going on.
Having said that, my mother-in-law had my husband when she was 43, so pregnancy can't be ruled out as you can get pregnant while going through perimenopause.
It may just be too early to test, or you could be having an off month, or it could be perimenopause. We can only guess.
I'd wait another week and then take another hpt using first morning urine.
Either that or go to your doctor.

Hi ladies; I am now currently 10 days late for my period. I have tested 9 times... all negative. The last day of sex was thanksgiving. I have even went to the health department for them to do a urine screen to rule out any chance that I have goofed up the test. That makes the 9th negative but I got to tell you... I have been having my period now for 30 years, never been pregnant and I just feel different. Thanks Denise
Denise, at your age perimenopause is a very possible reason for the change in your periods. The average age for full blown menopause is 51. A woman can be in perimenopause for up to 10 years before we are in menopause.
Since your urine tests showed negative, it might be time for a blood test. If that is still negative, I would think that you are beginning the early stages of menopause.

Do you think that if the last day I had sex was thanksgiving; started testing on December 2oth; all in the morning, all a couple days apart with the last test being Tuesday( today being Thursday) and they are all negative including the last one at the health dept. that I am good to go? I should also add; there are no sore breasts involved. Denise
I never had sore breasts with all 4 of my pregnancies. This is not to be considered a solitary symptom of pregnancy.
What do you mean "good to go?"
At work I don't deal with the last day you had sex, but rather the first day of your last period.
Again, at your age, perimenopause is very possible. Also, pregnancy cannot be ruled out by urine tests alone... at this point, as a registered nurse, I would recommend a blood test.

Thank you for your help; by good to go I just meant this incessant worrying. I have a blood test scheduled today; and the lady at the health dept says it is very well likely to be perimenapausal. I guess reading all the stuff on the internet about false negative tests is the real problem. I was hoping to find a site that would tell me that after 9 negative tests and that long after your period; you are more than likely to not be pregnant. I guess that more than anything; I am seeking relief as at this point in the game; I feel that I am too old to start having children. Denise.
