My daughter got an abscess from where I don't know. But we took her to the doctor last night when I seen it. He gave some meds but tonight it has busted and it has almost a purple color around it. What should I do. I called the hosptial and they said follow what I thinks best but I have never had this problem.

For your daughter's abscess, put a clean, warm, wet washcloth on it for 15-20 minutes, remove it, and then ten minutes later do it again. Continue for about two-three hours. The purple is pooled blood and will disappear gradually.

If the abscess is still draining, after you do the washcloth thing, wrap the abscess site with a gauze or clean cloth bandage. She can walk or move around then. (How old is she?)

Hmmmm, she's not going to want to sit or lie still while you do the washcloth thing. Do it on the fly, as long as she will allow you. Maybe tell her a story or play with something with her to keep her still for even five minutes.

Do you know what could cause to have swelling there too??

It may be from a mild infection. Please deal with this as soon as possible. It's usually an easy fix.
