My boyfriend got arrested for theft and the cop took him to a room where he was detained and the cop was in his face told him he didn't like him and told him that is other people weren't around he would have beat him and then he kicked him in the foot. Can a cop get in trouble for doing this?

Who witnessed this behavior? It will be your boyfriend's word against that of the Police Officer.

Do I believe it happens? Sure. It falls into the "sticks and stone will break your bones ..." category.

You asked if the Officer could hurt him. No, he cannot. Did he?

He can, and often do everything except kick him in the foot.

But there is really no way to prove it

The officer did kick him in the foot and told him that if the other people around him were not there he would do more to him my boyfriend is going to court cause he got charged so should he tell his lawyer about this?

Of course he should tell his Attorney - my feeling is that there were no witnesses, nothing will be done unless, of course, he sustained an injury.

Question is whether he wishes to further alienate the Police -
