I just bought a 2006 ford f250 6.0 turbo diesel. Runs great but recently won't start. I changed the filters and they were nasty, they were past due. I think the rale pump has gone bad not sure, I seem to keep loseing pressure from the top. Or should I say the fuel leaks down. Could poor maintenance on the filters cause the rale pump to go bad?

You likely have another fuel filter, next to the fuel pump on the frame. Both fuel filters should be changed every 15,000 miles. My strong recommendation is to only use full-synthetic HDDO in your turbo diesel.

The filter on the frame is attached to the pump, one on the frame and one on the pump. We have changed them both.

Poleman: Sound familiar, High Pressure Oil Pump to injectors. Will fine under the Turbo when removed. Get print-out at counter Ford Parts Counter. I've done 2 each in 50k.

Your engine is being wormed up by electrical device like a glow plug you should wait till the light goes off before starting the engine
