There are a lot of people who post about coloring your hair black and not wanting it any more... please think about it long and hard if you wan black hair and make sure your going to keep it for a long time... because stripping is really the only immediate option, it's a long process thought it involves bleaching, washing it out, bleaching, washing it out, bleaching, washing it out, bleaching, washing it out, and many more times depending on how the color looks. Not only is it long but can irritate the scalp and damage your hair pretty bad in some cases large chunks can fall out, if you do go with this method bring books and magazines to keep yourself company and lunch haha, but really PLEASE think about your hair and really REALLY think about if you are considering coloring it black! So if you are thinking about getting it done post on here and I can help :)

Cutting short and growing out is the only option to get rid of black hair if you want to keep a healthy scalp and most of your hair. I know it looks unsightly, but your description of the second option is really bad and perfectly true.

I have normally black hair and years ago when I was covering my gray(I no longer bother) I dyed it black ,thinking that dark brown was too light.
I looked like a two dollar hooker and I wish someone had told me before I did it. It took forever to fade so I second your advice and can only assume from your post ,you learned like I like I did ,the hard way.

Lovebirdl20, it isn't so much the fading but the roots growing back that is a real ugly turnoff for most people. That's why I suggested cutting short so eventually you won't be left with that much of the roots showing.
It takes a very very long time to fade. You say black hair would fade quicker, I don't think so.
People around here usually don't disagree on such a minor issue.

tickle,I'm not even disagreeing I'm simply saying, there are not that many people out there who want to cut their hair short, and my black hair faded in 5 month, if you wash your hair, swim, sit in the sun, and thing that normally fades hair it will also fade black, I didn't say black hair fades quicker I said it will probably fade quicker than short hair growing back.

Why would long hair fade quicker than short hair?

It doesn't matter the amount of hair you have though, its still color on your hair. And I didn't even say that I SAID
That it would be quicker for your hair to FADE than it would be to wait for your hair to GROW IN.

This is ridiculous I try to help people who make mistakes and destroy their hair and I get this. Done with this thread.
If you have a real question about it ask me but I'm done trying to explain what I said.

This is a question and answer board, not an advice board or a message site so I don't understand your original posting, which was not a question.
You chose to use the "disagree" option in response to a respected member (did you read the rules of the site) - and then you turned unpleasant when that "disagree" was addressed in a very nice way.
Please don't use text speak. And no need to type in bold, which is the same as screaming. I really can hear you.
