I need some legal advice but I have absolutely no money. I live in miami dade county and when my boyfriend was being arrested for a marijuana grow house I showed up and due to coersion from the police I did sign a statement saying the contents of the home were mine. I wasn't aware of the charges and before I knew it I was taken to jail and released because my parents put up a ery high bond. Now my public defender is at the last continuance and he hasn't done anything, when I brought it up to the judge she denied my request for a new public defender. PLEASE HELP!! I suffer from extreme anxiety and this case is 3 years min mandatory

Hello m:
I'd like to help, but I don't know what you expect to hear from us... You signed a statement. Were you read your Miranda warnings BEFORE you signed it?? I'll bet you DID. That SUNK any chances for your lawyer to DO something. There are no fancy legal tricks that your lawyer isn't doing.
What do you think should be done that isn't being done?

How is your Public Defender NOT representing you well? The Prosecutor has your signed statement, correct? I don't know what you expect any Attorney to do when faced with a "confession."
If your parents were able to put up a very high bond perhaps they are also able to retain a private Attorney for you; however, that Attorney still has to face a signed confession/statement.

Its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

So you took the fall for your boyfriend? Now what? Did you think growing marijuana was legal in Florida and that it was okay to grow it? You basically messed up when you signed a confession saying the contents of the house were yours. You have only yourself to blame when you sit in prison for 3 years. Nothing short of a miracle can save you now that the damage is done and certainly not another attorney private or public defender can do much of anything other than maybe getting you the mandatory minimum rather than the maximum sentence for this.
What happened to the boyfriend?
