I am 6-7 weeks pregnant and started spotting. It is really light and I can just wipe it away. This is when I would usually get my period and the reason I went to get tested was because this is how my period was then. Any suggestions?

Missy

Bleeding/spotting in early pregnancy can be caused by a multitude of things... some of which are actually unknown.

One reason could be a condition called placenta previa, where the placenta lies near, or covers, the cervix. Another reason could be a threatened miscarriage.

You need to visit your OBGYN and discuss this with him/her and hopefully find a cause for this.

I have seen pregnancies wherein the woman bleeds like this the entire 9 months and still delivers a happy healthy baby. However, only your doctor can tell you if this is normal for you.

I don't have a doctor I just recently moved here. I applied for medicaid 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back so I've been holding off on scheduling an appointment. Should I schedule one anyway?

Yes, you NEED to schedule an appointment. Early prenatal care is a necessity for a healthy pregnancy, labor, delivery and healthy baby!!

I hope you are already taking prenatal vitamins. If not, go out ASAP and get some.

Yes I'm taking them. So is it possible to still get your period at 6 weeks-ish

No, you won't get your "period" but it is possible to bleed for several reasons outlined above, BUT this could also be a threatened miscarriage. It's IMPORTANT to see a doctor anytime there is bleeding in pregnancy.

OK thank you do hospitals accept medicaid?

Most do. However, NO hospital can turn you down if you are unable to pay. That is against the law.
