What are the basic requirements of starting a small scale business in auto electrical field? I am a qualified auto electrician and I am tired of working for others . I want to start my own business, I was planning for a mobile workshop. How can I make new customers and advertise my business for some profit. I will really appriciate proper guidance. Thanks.

Well first you can expect not to make a profit for a period,

You will set up a business plan.

This is why most small business fail, lack of funding,

First go to your state government and get an application for small business. Fill it out and pay the fee. Then file the paperwork for an LLC. That is a limited Liability Corporation.
Get bonded and or insured, Advertise in small local papers and hang ads in local gas stations and autoparts stores. (with permission)

It is NOT necessary to file with the government or get a LLC. But you probably want to make sure you are covered by liability insurance.

Where you should start is at sba.gov and score.org. This sites have a lot of good advice for a startup business.

Hi, sonny1988!

Have you checked with the city officials where you might want to work to see what the requirements might be? The requirements will vary from city to city.

I can help you with advertising on the Internet for free, if that might be something that you'd like to do.

Thanks!

Many things happen on that site. I just use it for general advertising. The exposure it gets is excellent!

My ads on there can be found via clicking on the following link.

Link. (http://www.hoobly.com/members/clough/)

If you word things correctly, what you post on there can be exposed within minutes when people do a search for what you do where you do it.

But, we need to word your ad correctly.

Are you ready to do that?

Thanks!

sonny1988
Jan 4, 2010, 03:00 AM
Oh yeah I am definitely ready. But is this site famous in nz? I never heard of it before.

Clough

If you are, please do respond. I'm willing to help you!

Your response doesn't have to be long.

Thanks!

Yes! It works for New Zealand!

Please get ready to format your ad.

Please post how you might format your ad, without putting any contact information in it. I can then guide you as to how you might word and place it on hoobly.com.

There are other essential sites to join. I'll show you where and how... But, the hoobly.com one is the most important first one to join.

Thanks!

Is that correct? If not, please specify the type of repairs that you can do.

Are those the only areas where you'll be wanting and willing to work. Or, are there others? The more places that you'll be willing to work, the more likely that you'll be getting more business.

sonny1988
Jan 4, 2010, 10:35 PM
At the moment only in auckland. There are many cities in auckland as it is a big state. That should be fine with me.

Clough
Jan 4, 2010, 10:47 PM
Okay. So then, we'll need to see what words and sentences the competition is using where you'll want to be getting business.

I'm going to do a search now...

What's on the links is you competition for advertising on the Internet. You'll need to use certain keywords in order to come up on the first page in searches that people do.

What specific things do you want to work on in cars, please? Please be specific.

yes , all automotive installation of alarms , cdplayer, bluetooth or anything else. electrical repair and lot of mechanical repair and servicing as well.

I forgot about your post that you had made about that.

You'll need to be real specific and elaborate with what you post in an ad or on any kind of website if you want to compete with your competition.

sonny1988
Jan 9, 2010, 12:50 AM
Not yet.may be by next week. I am ordering from overseas. Product cost is really low, but the cost of getting them is horrendous to me. I am having second thoughts now, whether to get it from overseas or from my country. At the end there will be diffrence of couple of hundreds.

I can pay here by credit card which I prefer, but overseas it will be cash.

We can do it! It will be okay!

Would you mind if I changed the title of this thread? For right now, it's just "business". If the title were a bit more descriptive, it would get more "hits" here and on the Internet for others who might want to know about the same things that you're asking.

i wanna be an installer. so i`ll be doin car alarms, cd players, dvd players, bloothtooth, all other things which can be installed into a car.

Please list all of the other possible things. Please also capitalize the words if that's needed. I'm not an expert with things concerning automobiles, but I am with advertising and getting promotion for what someone might want to do.

If we don't put the location here and your contact information, we won't be using this site for advertising. That would be against the rules.

I can change it because I moderate this forum topic area. After 24 hours from when you first titled and asked your initial question, you're not able to change the title or the post.

You've already listed what you want to do. Please give me a couple of minutes to review this thread and to make suggestions.

sonny1988
Jan 9, 2010, 02:06 AM
Of course

Clough
Jan 9, 2010, 02:14 AM
Possible keywords to be used at the bottom of your ads:

Car alarm installation (location), CD player Installation (location), DVD player installation (location), bloothtooth (I have no idea what that is. Plese explain.)
Automotive electrical service in (Location), Automotive electrical reapair in (Location), (Location) car ignition service, electrical component service in a (Year, make and model of a car), car electric servicing, servicing of electrical components in cars and trucks, etc.

Do you get the idea?

What are some other words that might be used for automotive electircal repairs and installation, please?

Thanks!

sonny1988
Jan 9, 2010, 02:20 AM
Its mobile hands free kit which connects through blutooth. Its illegal to drive while on phone in nz now. I deal in cars only not trucks. Electrical components repair is really high level task which requires years of experience. Lets stick to installation only. I can also repair lighting faults, starter and alternator repair, check charging system.

sonny1988
Jan 9, 2010, 02:24 AM
I can't repair electronic modules in the car. But I can remove and refit them ealsily. But that any mechanic can do.

Clough
Jan 9, 2010, 02:29 AM
We're just coming up with possible ideas here...

Thanks for letting me know more specifics and to what you want to do.

You can ad the words that you've mentioned in your previous two posts to the keywords in your ads.

Clough
Jan 9, 2010, 02:30 AM
Also, you need to make sure that the spelling of any words that you use in your ads are absolutely correct, if you want what you can do to be found when people do searches.

sonny1988
Jan 9, 2010, 02:32 AM

If you study how I've worded my ads, you'll get an idea as to how to word yours. If you post in a similar way, your ads should show up on the first page in a Google search within minutes! However, please don't post multiple ads about the same thing on that site. If you do, they most likely will be deleted.

There are other sites that I would like to show you. Some of them can be very particular about what someone posts on them, though.

u have got so many ads posted. okay i`ll try to make an ad for me.

Please study my words and sentences that I've used, in particular for the services that I offer. If you word your ad similarly and also use the keywords that we've talked about, you should be on the first page in a Google search within minutes.

Using singular as well as plural is important as well as words ending in "ing" in addition to "er" endings is important, if you want to beat the competition.

i am making one ad but there is no optin for nz doller in price list.

I'm not sure that you have to list a dollar amount there. If I recall, I don't think that I usually do.

It's also probably not best to list a price. You want people to contact you. Then, you can negotiate a price. If you list a price, then people might not be as willing to contact you, because you've given them too much information.

That's part of what sales are about. You draw the people in, and then negotiate concerning prices.
