I do a bad thing... I pick my face and my lips and my back and my fingers and all my scabs... I do it when I'm stressed and mad and sad and in a hurry and bored, I rarely do it when I'm happy (but I'm rarely ever happy) and I was wondering if its bad (other than the ugly pick scars) if it means there's something mentally wrong, I like the pain it relieves stress and makes me feel better and I stop doing other things to be able to pick at myself..

Hi, lovebird120!
What else do you do during the day?

Right now I just sit at home alone all day with my baby, he's a handful and stresses me out a lot, also I talk to my boyfriend on instant messaging all day and he stresses me out a little... then my boyfriend gets home from work and I continue to pick but he tries to stop me and I just get mad that he won't let me

Hi again, lovebird120!
Have you ever sought out professional help for your problem?
Thanks!

Well I'm asking this question to SEE if id need professional help... I don't know if its really a bad thing or not...
Why could it be? Like what mentally would be wrong for me to do that? I don't get it...

Anyone who does something physically to themselves, on a regualy basis, that might be harmful, would benefit by seeking out the advice and help of a professional counselor.
You're not a bad person.
Is there some reason that you haven't sought out the advice and help of someone who is a professional?'
Thanks!

Well I guess because I have SO much other stuff to worry about and SO much other stuff id need to talk to a professional about, I'm a young mother and I don't have much money to go see someone I don't have insurance for myself so I think itd be very expensive, when I was in school I talked to someone there but I don't go there any more so I had to stop seeing her

There are counselors at clinics that oporate on a sliding fee scale. Sometimes, a person might even be able to see a professional for no cost at all.
But, the thing is, that you have to make the effort and go looking for them.
If you go to a community actioin type of agency, they might be able to put you in touch with someone who could counsel you.

If you let me know, on this thread, where you're located, it's possible that I might be able to locate an agency near to you that can help you.
Thanks!

I'd like to reinforce what Clough has said - your scan picking is a form of obsessive compulsive disorder combined with wanting to cause yourself pain.
It's really important that you get some professional help. I understand that these sorts of disorders are reasonably easy to treat, so imagine how good you'll feel when you stop doing it!
