I have a 1989 Byant, Day and Night (Payne) rooftop air conditioner/gas furnace. My furnace was doing the same thing as a lot of others who are having problems but mines a dinosaur. The "professional" said we need an exhaust fan blower. UMM but the that's working I assume since it blows barely warm air for a few secs. Then just cold air. Once it , the blower wouldn't go off at all. So we wore our winter clothes to bed! I can hear it go on then I can hear the furnace lite. Then the furnace goes off. This started the 1st really cold day we had in Sacramento, CA. record breaking 24, which lasted for a week. Tired of burning wood!! Holidays are over... so its time to get the old girl working! Can anybody help!

The exhaust fan blower is not the same item as the blower that blows heated or cooled air into your home. The exhaust blower is part of the gas burner part items and your unit will not work without the exhaust blower working. If that part is defective as the professional says it is then it needs to be replaced. There is no cheap fix available.
