I received a bonus of $31000 and I got the half lump some of $14953 in August and after taxes got $9923. I would like to know if I am getting any of those taxes back off my bonus? After my bonus, my annual gross income for 2009 is now $42007, and I don't believe we qualify for the EIC anymore because of the bonus inflating my income. So just wondering if we can plan on getting anything back on my taxed bonus. Thanks

You MAY still qualify for the EIC, as the maximum amount goes up every year; you are right on the edge.
You will probably get SOME of the withheld taxes back, but not all.

Single status, without any dependent, standard deduction, the federal income tax (without EIC adjustment) on the income of $42,000 is about $4350.

Thanks... Sorry I left out my info. I will be filing married status, with 2 dependents...

Does that mean TWO children, or a wife and ONE child?
Most people do not understand that the spouse in a joint return is NOT a dependent, but rather a co-filer.
