How do I tell if I have plain or selfraising flour

To know if you have plain or self-rising flour, taste it! If it tastes salty, it's self-rising. If it tastes totally plain, no salt at all, it's plain flour. Also, rub a little between your fingers. Self-rising flour will feel a bit gritty.
