After cooking, I put spaghetti noodles and shrimp in the garbage disposal to dispose of the noodles and shrimp. The noodles and shrimp disappeared in the garbage disposal, but now I have a water backup. I have water in my sink and the water will not go down the drain. I assume there is something blocking the drain, so I used the garbage disposal tool to dislodge the item(s), but it did not work. I then :-[used the plunger, it did not work. Any suggestions on how to dislodge the drain? Also, when I turn on the garbage disposal, I hear noise, but the water is not going down the drain? Thanks in advance.

When you plunged out the sink did you block off one side so the plunger could get suction? If not then you haven't plunged your sink. Try this, Take the basket strainer and put it in the sink side of the drain so it will hold water and stop it off. Now have someone hold it down so it doesn't break vacuum while you plunge the disposal side. This should free up the blockage. If not then remove the trap and check to see if it's clear. If it is then run a hand snake into the piece coming out of the wall. The good news is that you won't have to run out over 6 foot. Good luck, Tom
