Hi,
I just bought a house with a partially finished basement. The interior walls are metal studs. I need to hang doors in a couple of these walls. I believe I need to frame out the opening with wood and hang the door using self-tapping screws (from some of the other questions I've seen answered here), but are there other steps I need to take? Am I overlooking anything? The studs just don't seem all that strong - will they support normal wood doors? Thanks for any input you can offer!

When I frame a door to metal studs I put wood studs in place of the metal ones,or even install the wood IN the stud, there needs to be enough support to the hinge side and to the closing side to take the weight.

If the opening isn't framed yet,use wood framing, remembering that the base will be exposed to possible moisture,I would use treated lumber for the base plate and the frame of standard pine.

I would also make sure you use hollow doors to kept he weight down, just to be on the safe side.
