I have a payne HVAC and burner will come on, when I went up in the attic to check it out I noticed a part missing, I believe it was the alternate limit switch, would this cause for the unit to not come on, do I need a switch? Thanks in advance to whom ever can answer my question!

Yes it will.
I don't know if I asked the question correctly, but the furnace will not come on at all, it did fire up the first time but shut down and I have not been able to get it to relight, did you say I do need the alternate limit switch in order for the furnace to fire up? Thanks again for your expertise!
