Hey, I am 14 years old and I am dating a guy that is 18...
I am in grade 9 and he is in grade 12! Now my mom is not to thrilled about it and wants to press charges against the guy because we make-out! She says it is statutory rape (illegal)
Is it illegal for us to date? Is it considered statutory rape?

Making out will eventually lead to "more". And the "more" is illegal. I don't blame your mother for being concerned.

It's tough being involved at such a young age.Especially to an "adult" I suggest you waiting, and for the meantime, fing someone closer to your own age. If he does have a statutory rape conviction, it will be with him for LIFE! Look it up. I am sure that you don't want that to happen to him.

Good luck.

Yes, if you had sex, he could go to prison for some time plus have to be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

So expect boyfriends life to be ruined if your mom decides to make it hard on him

Your mom can get him for a variety of charges besides statutory rape. And he can go to jail for making out with you, if she wishes.

It depends on how you define making out and it depends on where you live. At 14 you under the age of consent in most places. This means it is very likely to be illegal for him to do anything more than kiss you.

This has been discussed many times here. At your ages, you have very little in common with an 18 yr old and vice versa. There is a strong likelihood that he is interested in you only as a plaything.

I think your mom has your best interests at heart and you should end this relationship before it goes way too far.
