Can't get windows meda player 10 to play DVDs from a USB connected DVD Dr

Error stating DVD Decoder required what does this mean and how do I find one for free?

I'd do that but every time I try to access the DVD it autoopens in windows media player how do I stop this

You can try and got to "My Computer" Right click on your DVD drive and look for the selection that says "Open With" and use VLC and set it as the default. Or the simpler work around, uninstall Windows Media Player
