If he's already been sentenced there is little an Attorney can do. There is no "working with the prison system on where/how he serves his time." The system will send him wherever they have room, wherever they want him to be. He (and his family) have virtually no say. An Attorney MIGHT be able to help you with a petition to move him to a prison closer to home, for example, but the reasons have to be overwhelmingly compelling.

Both. But, if he's there illegally, you'd get a bigger bang for your buck with a lawyer. Besides, it doesn't cost any money to work with the prison system. You just have to know how to DO that.

I do, and I'm free.
