Hi all,
Current configuration:
Wall switch that has 2 sliders, one for the fan (has multiple speed capability) and the other for the light (has dimming capability). Our wall slider switch looks like this one (but not this make/model), just for FYI: Hunter Fan/Light Dual Slide Preset Control - 27183 at The Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com/Lighting-Fans-Ceiling-Fans-Accessories-Remote-Wall-Controls/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xgtZbn5v/R-100395277/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053)
Ceiling fan (CF) with light kit.
Wires from ceiling box (CB): 1 white, 1 black, 1 red and 1 ground.
Wires from current ceiling fan: 1 white, 1 black, 1 blue and 1 ground.
The whites are connected, the blacks are connected, the grounds are connected and the red wire (ceiling) connects to the blue wire (CF)
What we purchased is this:
Ceiling fan kit with 2 lights (one "upper" and one "lower"), found here: Hampton Bay 60 In. Brookedale II Ceiling Fan in Brushed Nickel Finish - AL101-BN at The Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com/Lighting-Fans-Ceiling-Fans-Accessories/Hampton-Bay/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xgtZaqycZp4/R-100665872/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053Hampton Bay 60 In. Brookedale II Ceiling Fan in Brushed Nickel Finish - AL101-BN at The Home Depot)
The kit comes with a remote.
The remote sensor (RS) is supposed to go in between the wires from the ceiling box, and the wires from the motor on the CF.
The remote sensor has on one side: 1 black and 1 white wires that are supposed to connect to the respective ceiling box wires.
The other side of the remote sensor has: 1 black, 1 white, 1 blue, 1 orange and 1 ground that is supposed to connect to the respective wires from the motor (except the ground, which presumably should connect to the ground from the ceiling box.).
I've tried to wire it, like this:
CB white to RS white side 1, RS white side 2 to CF white.
CB black to RS black side 1, RS black side 2 to CF black.
CB red straight to RS blue side 2 and CF blue (together).
CB ground to CF ground.
RS orange to CF orange.
However, a few things don't work.
The top light doesn't come on at all with either the wall light slider switch nor the remote.
The bottom light only comes on with the wall light slider, but not the remote.
The fan only comes on with the remote, but not the fan slider switch.
Here is a link to my crude drawing of what I'm trying to install: Doc1 (http://www.scribd.com/doc/24391466/Doc1).
Ultimately, I'd like the wall fan slider to work on the fan, and the wall light slider to work with both upper and lower lights (or at the very least, one of the light's). And, of course, would like the remote control to work as expected.
Some questions...
Perhaps I need to combine the black and the red from the CB, and wire them with the black on side 1 of the RS?
I believe the limitation here is the remote sensor, side 1 because it only has 1 "hot" (black wire) and 1 neutral. If it had 2 hots, I could hook the black to black and the red to the other hot on side one of the remote sensor. Anybody see a legal and safe way around this limitation?
I'm wondering if I can simply wire the two hot wires from the ceiling box (the black and the red) together...and wire them (together) to the single black wire on side one of the remote sensor? Would that scenario create a problem if, say...only one of the wall sliders was on and the other was off? If that's possible, I'm thinking this would allow both wall sliders to go through the remote control (via the single black wire).
 How should this be wired so that the lights and the fan will be controlled by the remote, yet the wall switch sliders can still be used (assuming remote was left on)?
Thanks much.
