I have had a garnishment put on my bank account the judement was from 2005. We have had a foreclosure and if I was aware of this judement it would have been while we were in a divastated loss of our home and was overlooked. They just acouple days before christmas froze our account. Nice! They didn't get much money, but the 400 that I owed is now 1400 because there is already an old judgement can I go back and get I reduced? Or is it to late? I got the paper yesterday! I tried the account today, already frozen! The paper said I had to respond in 20 days! But they didn't wait? Can they do that?

Let me see, they would have served you paper work of a court hearing,
The original amount now includes lawyer fees, court filing fees, and other court fees , plus the original late payment fees, and interest of course.

There is little you can do at this point, but you can ask for a summary of all of the amounts. Or you can review the original court documents at the courthouse.

The bank account is frozen but they won't send them the money for 20 days, to allow you time to appear this garnishment.
