How is the drain of a shower stall connected to the ptrap that has been roughed in, in a concrete slab during new house construction to make a water tight connection? The ptrap is PVC.

The "P" trap should have a upright stubout coming above the floor line. This will be the piece that the shower drain connects to. If the drain is metal the it will have a "O" ring that makes a water tight connection 6to the raiser. If the drain's PVC it will glue to the raiser. More questions? I'm as close as a click.

Whoa! :o Whole new ball game. You asked about a shower stall not a tub/shower installation.? The rough in dimensions differ, the hook up isn't the same and the fittings are different. If you could give me the rough in dimensions, (how far from each wall line) I can tell you what you're roughed in to install. ;D Regards, Tom 8)

The shower drain has a narrow allowance between the height of the shower floor and the hard floor where the plumbing drain pipes are. Is the a smaller drain trap that doesn't have as much of a total height?

Does your trap have a cleanout on the bottom? If so, you can purchase a PTRAP without a cleanout... will save you 3/4" to 1" in total height. Otherwsie, the height of 2" PTRAPS is standard.
