My carrier funace will not turn on. The fan works when you put "fan on" butnormally it doesn't. The igniter does not seen to get hot or anything. We have an automatic ignitinion system and when we push some plastic thing with five wires on it and six holes under but olny five have metal holes into the auto igniter, it sometimes turns on the igniter and you see a flame but the big burners don't turn on and the igniter goes off. This is a carrier, model 58gs125-jb, series 160 and it was installed in 91. I hope this is enough info. Please answer asap due to the low temps and our furnace not working. Thanks

Does your furnace have a 3 wire pilot?

It does

Unless you have the proper tools to test the 3 wire pilot I would just replace it making sure it is wired correctly. The factory pilot has a keyed connector to prevent imroper wiring. Easy does it where the aluminum tube connects. A littlr WD-40 on the threads helps for it to unscrew out of the pilot assembly.

Just an example. Search for the best price.
