I live in the north country of NYS and every winter my vents on my roof freeze and I have to get someone to get on my roof and pour hot water down them which help until we get freezen cold again. So last year I put a water elec wire tape around one of them to see if that would work, when I got the smell I put it on but only for a short time, didn't know if it would cause a fire. It did work a little. This year I extended the vent about the point of the house and put on a angle rotating vent (like they use on a RV) figuring that the vapor would come out instead of freezing and falling back into the vent blocking hole. Getting freezing weather now and guess what! That didn't work. Now what do I do?

Arctic Vents,(see image) might be just what you're looking for.
Check them out at; Water Line Heat Trace Freeze Protection For Cottage, Home, Commercial Water Pipe Applications - Arctic Vent (http://www.heatline.com/arcticprod.htm)
Good luck and stay warm. Tom
