I was seeing someone for like a month or two and I bought him a lot of things... I ask him when he would pay me back and he keeps making up excuses... I am screwed financaily and I emailed him asking for the money back. It states everything that owed me down to the dollar and says for what. It also states that he said he would give me my money. It has been almost two months and he hasn't given me anything. When I tld him I was taking him to small claims he said he didn't have to pay me anything and that I have no proof. I have the emails that we sent back and forth with his name on them as well as his picture and his phone number are attached. He owes me 945... where do I stand? Can I win and does he have to pay me? This is going to be tough. He's going to claim they were gifts. But your having kept precise records may help a judge decide they weren't.

So I think you stand a better than 50% chance you will get a judgment. However, even if you do, there is still the issue of collecting. You will have to garnish his salary or attach bank accounts to recover the money.
