Hi again, Ursa Maior!

I've already started to address your other thread concerning this. Please do keep things to one thread. It's less confusing that way.

Do you know how to post it as a tiny url? It would be okay if you did it that way. This site isn't to be used for advertsing, so we need to be careful that it doesn't look like that with anything that's posted.

Clough

I'm sorry Fr_Chuck! I didn't see your post. We posted at about the same time. If the url does contain certain words, it might be possible for it to come up when people do searches for things. Not likely, but possible. It depends on how it's posted.

I'm sorry, but I had to restart my computer because it was quitting doing anything on the Internet! It's really old...

Yes, that will work, because people are most likely not going to be looking for the words grouped together like that.

Would you please open up another browser or tab and give me a minute to regroup?

Thanks!

Let him go ahead ( I am one of the moderators ) after you look at it and review it, we can always come back in a dayh or two and delete the link.

But we often post links, as long as it is not a ad. And at this point it does not appear to be.

Okay, I found it and copied it so that hopefully, my computer won't backfire on me again..

What's missing are a whole bunch of keywords in the ad that could show up when people do searches. Plus, most of the information that you've posted there can be found on your website, if I'm not mistaken. So, the key thing to do is to concentrate on the keywords to use for search terms in your ads.

Since you're not a member of Everything from Everywhere (http://www.hoobly.com/) (hoobly.com), would you please join it and let me know, on this thread, when you have joined it, please? You would use your other browser or tab in order to do that.

The goal is to get you on the first page in a google.com search, and, that might even happen yet, tonight! Hoobly.com ads, if worded correctly, can frequently appear on the first page in a search within minutes.

Ursa Maior
Dec 11, 2009, 11:24 PM

Yes, the content of the ad...

An ad placed on the free advertising sites is kind of like posting a resume. You want to draw them to the ad, have them be able to spend a little time reading it, and if they're interested, they'll contact you and/or visit your website.

You do have a really nice website, by the way!

Here is a link to a search using the title keywords of your ad.

Link (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&fkt=5660&fsdt=11920&q=Maid+Service+House+Cleaning+Windsor%2C+Connectic ut&aq=f&oq=&aqi=)

Are you on the first page of the search anywhere? You do have a lot of competition, but in time you should be able to be the dominant one.

Did you join hoobly.com?

Thanks!

Thanks for the complement! It's much appreciated! :)

I have a lot to learn...

Now, you're getting the idea as to how people do searches for things...

Let's work on a hoobly.com ad. Okay?

If you click on the following searches, you'll find keywords that others are using that you can also use in your ads. Typically, the keywords that others use are just tags on the websites or in the texts of the ads. If there isn't the name of the business in them, there should be no problem in using them, espeicially if you don't group a large number of them together that might be exactly like another business has done.

OK so yes I know how more or less how people do searches I did SEO for my website by myself . It works perfectly for Glastonbury, l.o.l but as I said I have to reach more than one town. What would you like me to do about the ad for hoobly.com ?

Yes I was asking about " Ablsoulte".

Lets work on the hoobly.com

Clough
Dec 12, 2009, 12:30 AM
I'm sorry! My computer "threw-up" again! Needed to restart.

The "Absolute" one was because I was in the Yellow Pages of one of the local phone books. However, in the past few days, I've discovered that it's free to join Google Maps. So, not only do I have the "Absolute" with them, another one that's about the same service. I just joined them with other ads a couple of days ago. Google will actually call you to verify who you are. Or, you can opt to receive a postcard from them.

I'm no longer in the phone books because I get much more business from the advertising on the Internet that I do for free.

Here is the link to join Google Maps.

https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?utm_medium=et&utm_source=us-en-et-bizsol-0-biz1-all&utm_campaign=en&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Flocal%2Fadd %2Flogin%3Fhl%3Den_US%26gl%3DUS&service=lbc&hl=en-US&gl=US

With the hoobly.com ad, I would suggest titleling it Cleaning Services in (Your state, written out).

We can then go from there...

Thank you very much Clough for the info, OK so we know the title of the ad. What next ? Do we need a better ad or just copy and paste my old ad?

Thanks!

Clough
Dec 12, 2009, 12:55 AM
There are some keywords at the bottom of the post to use at the bottom of the ad. It's much preferable to have what you do and your contact information toward the top of the ad.

So, what we do is create a couple of paragraphs about what you do and briefly where you mainly do it - then, your contact information - (first and last names), phone number, email address and website address. If you use your first and last names, it makes you look more credible.

You might start the ad something like this: Home and office cleaning services available in and around (vicinities and state). We also are cleaners for new construction, carpet cleaning, window washing, pressure washing, floor waxing and polishing, furniture dusting and floor mopping, etc.

Over (years) experience.

Insured and bonded. References available upon request.

Home cleaners in (location), (location) carpet cleaning, home maintenance in (location), spring cleaning in (location), etc. etc.

[I'm sure that you catch my "drift". The locations can all be different.]
[It's important to vary the keywords used because the search engines will pick on things in different ways. For instance: cleaning, cleaners, carpet cleaning and carpet cleaners. Singular, plural, "ing" endings, etc.] Google does things alphabetically and doesn't look for repeated words. It's different with other search engines. Yahoo, for instance, loves repeated words!

[I would also suggest using keywords and phrases from some of the other ads that we found on sites on the first pages of the searches.]

[You can even add area codes and Zip Codes to the keywords and locations.]

If you're going to compete with the cleaning and maid services that operate in the larger vicinities, you're going to need to use similar words to what they use as well as variations on them in addition to keywords that you create that are unique.

It's easier to be on the first page if you operate in a smaller vicinity, because there are less choices for the search engines to find.

Thanks!

Clough

You can use multiple locations in any ad that you post. If you do a simple one like I wrote, with a few additional things from you, based upon the same ideas that I posted, you will get excellent exposure.

Some advertising sites have limits to the length of an ad concerning the number of words or characters.

With a very few sites, you'll need to really abbreviate things to get your point across.

Thanks !

If you put it into an Excel spreadsheet and attach it to a post, people will only be able to find and see it by clicking on it. There are limits to the sizes of attachments here.

Also, it's obvious that you want to be really thorough in your ads. That's commendable but not all that necessary in order to just get the word out there about what you do, where you do it.

If you would still post a simple ad on hoobly.com tonight, to see about the exposure that it gets, you can always change it later.

I've been doing this Internet advertising thing for, I think about four years now. I've explored many, many sites on which to advertise. Many get excellent exposure in searches, whereas some simply do not. For some of the sites, you have to actually go to the site to find anything.

I do wish you a very pleasant and peaceful sleep, and I'll be back on here tomorrow night.

I had mentioned to you earlier on this thread about some other sites to join. They are essentials, but please be careful as to what you post on them. They tend to be picky. On them, is where you can post more extensive information, unlike what you should do with the free advertising sites.

Below, is a quote from another thread where I posted the information.

I wish for you too, a good sleep and I'll check in with you, tomorrow, John.

Thanks!

Craig

Here are some other sites that are great ones where a person can be a member and advertise for free!

All of the sites below, are where the information that you post on them appears to be permanent and without expiration. Almost all other free advertising sites have expirations. I actually still have some ads out there that are a number of years old where the information is now dated. I would like to get rid of those ads. However, on one or two of those sites, it seems like it's impossible to edit anything. Even though those sites might get excellent exposure, I now make sure that anything that I put on them is exactly what I want to be posted and so that the information won't ever become out-of-date.

MerchantCircle.com | Find new customers. (http://www.merchantcircle.com/corporate/)

Naymz: Over one million people use Naymz to build professional relationships. (http://www.naymz.com/)

Relationships Matter | LinkedIn (http://www.linkedin.com/)

I have no idea how old you are, but the site below is generally for people who are 40+, 50+ etc.
The Online Community for BOOMers | eons.com (http://www.eons.com/)

All of the above sites get excellent exposure when people do searches for things on the Internet. They are also sites where it appears that the people running the sites want the content of their sites to be of a very high quality. So, doing things like putting a whole bunch of keywords in ads might be considered to be spamming.

If I knew what I know now about Internet advertising, hoobly.com would be the first site that I would use for advertising. With the proper wording, the ad can appear within minutes of a Google search. We found that out tonight. When I finally did a search for the title of your ad, yours was first in the search, and that was without doing a "vanity" search. Those other "permanent" sites, would be the next ones that I would join.

I'll discuss about other free advertising sites at a another time...

Thanks!

Hi, John!

I'm back on. For how long, I'm not sure. I'm in the middle of a project that simply must get completed.

My day was okay. How was yours?

Also, what are your questions, please?

Thanks!

Hi, Craig!
My day was fantastic and I understand you have other things to take care of. I would like to thank you for you time and for all the help, perhaps from now on I can take care of my marketing/advertising process on my own. I would like to see how it goes and what kind of results I am going to have. Never mind those questions , these are not that important sooner or later I will find out the answers on my own the way you did during the process in past four years or so. Thanks again and I wish you all the best.

Best regards,

John
