In our house the thermostat is located behind an interior door in our bedroom. We spend most of our time in the living room and it always is chilly. We have a furnace less than 2yrs old. Should our thermostat be located in the living room since that is where we are 90% of the time?

Thermostat location can be a tricky subject. It is best located where there is no direct airflow from a heat register. Behind a door is not a good place to start with and your suggestion of the living room might work well.

Thank you for your response! For some reason, it's always been behind the door and have no reason why. The guy that installed our new furnace never said anything about it but after having a new furnace and not seeing much change I think this may be the issue. I'm thinking maybe the furnace it's running long enough?

Usually creiteria is not an outside wall and not influenced by the sun, so hallways are always a possibility.

There are thermostats with handheld reotes available, so that the temperature sening occurs where the remote is.

Behind the door makes no sense.
