I have a furnace that is about 9 years old. It has been running about a month now, last night we had to cut on the emergency heat because it got way below freezing. This morning I could smell something like plastic burning. My furnace is located in my laundry room, there was some of the smell in there, but is was more prevalent in my daughters room, which is about 20 or so feet from the furnace. There is a bathroom between it and her room and no smell in there at all. Just in her room and a little in laundry room. I cut off furnace all together and smell when away, but am scared to cut it back on. Anyone got any ideas.

Common sense, laced with a little fear would tell me that you should call an expert in and see where that burning smell is coming from. It could be the electric motor.
