I recently started taking Depa, and this is my first period since my dosage. My period started with dark, old looking blood (What usually happens at the end) and now has turned bright red and has been going on for a week and a half plus. I'm a little worried, but I also think the birth control might have to do with it. Any ideas if anything is wrong, or I'm just worrying over nothing?

Is Depa a birth control pill? If yes, then spotting/irregular bleeding is totally normal in the first 3 months of starting the pill. However, if you're losing a lot of red blood for more than a week, you should see someone, as that can't be healthy.
I think the OP means DEPO. It's a shot given 12 weeks apart. This can be normal for this type of birth control, and the reason many women choose not to use it.

When I was on the depo shot I spotted the whole three months that's one of the reasons I stopped taking it. I think it is normal to have some spotting or bleeding when you first start the depovera birth control-ask your gyn if you are worried.
