I love the castle but it needs a complete overhaul so we're moving out for the time being.

I decided to give you all a taste of Canada, so pack your bags, the tickets have been bought, get your arses over here. :)

We're doing it Canadian style. Not my neck of the woods, but the true Canada, the one that all you Americans think we live in. ;)

There are Igloos for everyone, some are equipped to handle a large group so choose your partner and snuggle up.

Don't eat the penguins, they're friendly. The polar bears won't come near the site if you make lots of noise, so hoot and holler.

We're not going to hunt the seals, they're too cute, so I built a restaurant out of ice that will serve us all our dietary needs.

There are parkas, scarves, mittens, hats, snow pants, long underwear and boots that are good for up to -30C. Let's hope we don't get to that temp, otherwise we'll all be cuddling. Wait... is that a bad thing? ;)

We're going to have a blast. Just make sure to bundle up.

NIce one, really! :)

I'm glad you like it Unky.

Now, before you go to bed make sure that you're bundled up. ;)

Actually, Igloos are very warm inside, even though they're made of snow, which is cold, they really do keep the heat. I've only been in one that we made, which wasn't built to code, but it was really nice and warm. Heck, we even had to take off our coats because we were getting too hot.

The hole in the top is a smoke hole, because you can build a fire inside. No worries, it won't melt. I had a professional build these babies. :)

Great! I don't even need that air conditioner! :D

Wait, we're in Canada and it isn't as hot as in Mauritius... Oops :o

I made a little typo over there, editing now.

well that sucks, couldnt you just get the kids to start a snowball fight with the neighbours across the road, im sure all you snow would go eventually :D

It's too cold for snowball fights. :(

The snow only sticks together when it's above -5 C. If it's colder then that then the snow won't stick together. No snowmen, no igloo's, no snowball fights, just shoveling.

Wait, isn't that why I had kids, so I wouldn't have to shovel snow or mow the lawn?

JARED!! SYDNEY!! Get your snow gear on and grab a shovel! :D

BEaaaar.....I think that you just made two new friends....

LOL! Jared and Sydney?

Sydney got her gear on and started to shovel. She came in 5 minutes later with rosy cheeks, wet mittens and soaking wet socks.

I asked her what happened. Her response;

"Um, well, there was a pile of snow, it was really tall, I wanted to see if it was taller then me so I jumped in. It was taller then me."

So I asked if she shoveled any snow. Her response;

"I was going to but I couldn't get out of the pile I jumped in to. When I finally got out I was cold and wet so I came in. Can't Jared do it, or Daddy, or you? I'm little".

It's really hard to argue with an adorable 7 year old with rosy red cheeks and wet socks.

I made her hot chocolate with little marshmellows on top.

I'm a bad mom. :(

Joe, why do we live in Alberta again? I ask myself that every year.

I was close to convincing hubby to move to Hawaii. We could live on the beach, the kids could collect coconuts and I'd make grass skirts and coconut bras to sell to the tourist. Life would be simple, and warm. ;)

Lol, Used to all the winter. Seems does not matter where I live in Canada. East Coast, Central Canada or Alberta. We can swallow a good snowstorm. As long as I am not driving in it, I love it. Yes, very much colder then Ontario, very much windier but still loving it all the same. I am predicting summer whether on Christmas day, hope it is not just for Toronto but for us here. Would be awesome. Lol

I am a strange Canadian. I would prefer the cold and mild temps to the hot hot weather in the south.

Are those coconuts or something else?

2. The second one was licking her ice cream from the bottom.
3. The third one was licking her ice cream all over, from top to bottom and vice versa.'

Then, he would let us answer, and then he'll say:

'kid: No! You look for the one having a ring! What were you thinking about! '

YouTube - Perro calenturiento.... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7n8exMZeTM&feature=rec-HM-r2)

HAHA Oh my gosh that made me laugh.

THe dog was hilarious. And she.. . Well she could NOT dance, and she looked anorexic.
All she did was flip her hair and wiggle her hips in a very non-fluidlike fashion.

I'd be embarrassed to post it because of the dancing, not because of the dog.

Because it makes me giggle.

YouTube - Hippo and dog (in the jungle) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qC9WkJV_TI)

I've seen that hippo and dog before... in a French channel called 'TF1', in 'TFOU' which is a program where you can see a lot of different cartoons. I didn't know they could speak english

Always doing something funny those two :p

Bear, the hippo is the innocent one, the strong one, the more 'foolish' one too.
The dog is the mischievous one, who's got brains though.
It's perhaps because the hippo is being annoyed by the latter that you are intrigued by it...

Oh, and an update of Momma C from Starty :(:

Congrats on the colts win Adam.

Did you see the saints game? Wow and WOW again... tied it with seconds to go and won in OT! Also 12 - 0.

Maybe Colts and Saints in the Super Bowl?? That would be a great game!!

adam_89
Dec 7, 2009, 12:09 PM
I bet you 10 bucks colts play the Saints in the Superbowl unless the Viking beat the Saints but I don't think so. The Saints are on fire. I wanted them to lose so badly yesterday for obvious reasons, I was happy when I checked the score and there was a less than 2 minutes left with the skins ahead and then I check back later, dissapointed to see it in overtime, and then I look again to see they won.

My prediction is that Colts vs. Saints in Superbowl. Both undefeated at that point. Saints win 31-10. My dream is that Colt's win 42-17

What is your prediction Stringer or anyone else?

Hi I am here. Back in good 'ole Ontario.

Eek the way here was NOT fun.

Let see how it went:

-4hour drive from Hudson's Hope BC to Grande Prairie Alberta
-take plane from Grande Praire to Edmonton [there are no one ways to Toronto]
-Edmonton plane to Toronto was delayed "due to a minor mechanical issues" in which turned out to be a forzen engine [was -20 Celsius that day]
-4 hour delay turned into a canceled flight
-had to retrieve my bags and rebook a flight.
-Only direct flight was at 6AM next flight [which was right about to take off was to Calgary and then Calgary to Toronto] I booked that one
-Me and Rach go running to get our carry ons checked and they took away her applesauce [it was not fun for Rachel]
-Go on Calgary flight
-Now in Calgary have to wait for 2 hours for next flight to leave
-FINALLY in Toronto at 7 am and drove back to Windsor [which is like 2 hours]...

I know which I bought IN the airport like in the 4hours I was IN the airport I concocted a bomb with applesauce...

They also made me dump her juice [which I also bought IN the airport]...

Rachel did not like it at all. She was crying like "noo my juice".

Even more it was late and she had no nap so it wasn't at all that fun.

During the 4 hour delay she did manage to have some fun with this lady and her dog. I, however, wanted to scream.

Well this winter storm is really bad only a few inches of snow (most of the 8 to 10 inches passed north of us) but 30 mpr winds with gusts every ten minutes up to 55 mph.

I just got back in, I was off the road that was a sheet of 1/2 inch ice with NO SALT on the road!! There was a 'white out' with the blowing snow, you can't see 5 feet in front of you.

There was a bad accident about hundred feet ahead, cars in front of me all hit the brakes and were flying everywhere. I was only going about 20 mph touched the brakes and it was like Disney ON ICE. I knew that I couldn't stop before I hit the car in front of me and there was a large utility casing to my right. I managed to go off he road between that casing and the car in front of me and bounced for 10 feet into the gutter and up the slope to the farmer's field. Stayed there for 1 1/2 hours until the tow truck got there to tow me out. I was standing in the middle of the road and the gusts blew me to the side, my mustache even froze!!

Thank goodness... no damage to my 'baby' C-70 and I had to use a tow truck that wasn't AAA so I won't get reimbursed... but 'baby' is safe... wheewwww !:eek::cool::rolleyes:

no worries stringer, i know that 'OH SH1T' feeling you get when you feel youve lost control of your vehicle, terrifying and exciting at the same time :)

:D Yeah.. Those are the words that I heard myself saying bear. When I touched the brakes I went into a complete spin, I was very lucky to be able to control it enough to guide my car between that utility box and the car in front of me. I missed it by inches. Like I said before, about a hundred yards ahead of me one car was over and on top of another and another one was on its' roof 20 feet from the road. Actually I saw about three additional cars that were off the road like I was.

I called my son he has a big Ford 4 wheel drive. He was on his way but the traffic was all snarled because of the storm. So I called him off when I got the tow truck driver to do it. Remember I was sitting there for and hour and a half... boring!! And Marta wanted to come and put out road flares because my butt end was still out on the road somewhat. I wouldn't let her, the roads and weather were just terrible.

Funny, I am the one that is always preaching to her about keeping blankets, flares, food and drink in the car for situations like this and I forgot to do it myself. Although I found a couple Reeses' Cups in my car... made short order of them... :)

Yep, like I said before, Disney On Ice man... and usually I don't have any problems on ice, this condition was different. The road was rounded a lot so rain would run off, it wasn't as flat as most.

I was raised in Western Pa, I learned to drive in this weather in the Laurel Mountains, not a problem usually. But when I touched the brakes on that ice, that was it. While I was in the spin I was working that steering wheel, let me tell you...

Remember I was sitting there for and hour and a half.....boring!!!!!

Although I found a couple Reeses' Cups in my car...made short order of them....:)

Yeah you deffinetly got lucky :)

A year ago I wrote my first car off, went round a corner, caught some loose mud or something (it had been raining heavily before I went out) swerved to avoid an oncoming car went between a tree and a telegraph post into some bushes pulled out hit a post and flipped it, I wasn't joking about that photo either, I got the paramedic to take one of me stood next to it :o

Ok, pics then Bear? I got to see.

Once I was driving home and it was raining and I threw a cigarette out my window and I thought it came back in so I looked in the floor and then back at the road. By that time my vehicle had left the road and I was heading straight towards a phone pole. I only had a lap belt in that thing so I dove to the right in my seat and it still slung me back and placed my mouth right into the steering wheel. It was a metal steering wheel with wood on top and bottom, well my mouth busted the wood and bent the metal. I now have over $4,000 in my mouth. Haha. I split the pole in two and continued through the woods taking out some trees until I came to one big enough to stop me. I miss that van, my good 'ol shaggin waggin. If I was in anything else I would have been dead.

Ok, that is fine Bear. You don't have to post any of the pics. You don't have to be shy in front of your family though. My accident wasn't that bad, I was just thankful my van was very durable. I had stitches in my mouth and both legs and had scratches and bruises all over. In bed for a week. It was nice that week. Wake up in the morning, take 3 different pills and pass out minutes later. Wake up in the afternoon, take more pills and pass out, same thing in the evening. That is all I did was sleep and take pills.

Glad that it was not a life threatening crash Adam.

What scares me a lot is with this push for more economical cars that are so tiny that it makes one wonder how you or your loved ones could survive a crash in it?

For what? I was doing roughly 45 mph on a 60 mph road

I did have to give my insurance details to the police because the sign I hit was a council sign so they were obviously going to claim on my insurance to put it back up

They didn't even bother to breathilise(sp) me, the reason being they told me if I was speeding id have died.

Yeah I've heard some parking wardens try that over here, because they get bonuses the more vehicles they get or something like that so they'll try any little reason to write you a ticket, there was a case of one guy whod parked and then theyd painted yellow lines where he was parked and they gave him a ticket, of course it was over ruled in court because of the pictures taked when the guy left because there were gaps in the paint where his tyres had been :D

That's stupid (they're a**es) and funny at the same time. Glad he was smart enough to take the pictures and follow through with court. Here it is always a hassle to go to court, you wait forever and sometimes they don't even call you that day and you have to come back the next...

I have a crash story that can beat all of you. Yup, I'm competitive too. ;)

This happened around 15 years ago, 1 year before hubby and I got married.

I was in college, finishing my degree. It was finals week. I stayed late to help a fellow classmate that was having trouble with the material. I left 3 hours later then normal, ended up in rush hour traffic, in Edmonton. Not fun.

I was on the highway, going over a really crappy area, there's a little hill, then a set of lights. I get over the hill (you can't see what's in front of you until you get over it) and the car in front of me slams on the breaks. I react, slam on mine, look back to see if I'm going to get hit, but the care behind me also stops. I breathe a sigh of relief, we're all okay, about to look straight ahead again when CRASH! We're hit by an ambulance. No, he didn't have his lights or siren on, he was transporting patients.

It turned into a 4 car pileup. My car was totaled, as was the car behind mine and the ambulance.

Because of this crash I spent over 2 years in physiotherapy, 5 days a week. It didn't help. I have what they call "loss of lardodic curvature of the spinge. Also, my collar bone slipped, is now crushing the artery between my collar bone and first rib. Because of this my left arm is constantly numb. Yes, I can still use it, but summers are hell. I can literally stab a knife through my arm and not feel a thing. Surgery is the only correction, but it's risky.

Beat that boys. ;)
