My AC unit went bad this summer. The HVAC guy talked me into a Heat Pump (Goodman). The ac worked fine this summer. I began to use the heat pump for heat this fall and it worked great Now the Temp is 35 degrees and I set the thermostat to emergency heat. The gas furnace will blow but no heat comes out. The HVAC guy now says I have a bad circuit board or ignitor. The gas furnace worked fine until heat pump was installed. I think I am getting screwed. The gas furnace is a high effinciency HEIL. Any ideas before I pay this guy more money.

Not really sure how the installer wired things, but generally a HP works and when the outside temps are too low it automatically switches to the auxiliary fuel. I would not consider paying again for work performed. Unless of course it is your fault. Call the installer and explain the situation and ask his advise.

Out of curiousity, are you set up as a dual fuel system?

Was the gas "emergency heat" every checked out?

It is very possible that something in the thermostat control circuit was wired incorrectly at the time of replacement. Heed your suspicions...
