I just got a phone call saying my pap came back detecting HPV now I have to go back for further testing, I had an abortion 2 months ago can this have anything to do with an abnormal pap?? cause I remember after having my son I had an abnormal pap, but when they re did it, it came back normal... I am so worried right now.

www.womenshealthlondon.org.uk/leaflets/.../cervab.html (http://www.womenshealthlondon.org.uk/leaflets/.../cervab.html).
before you panic...dont panic!
1 in 12 smears come back abnormal in england, there are also 100 differant types of HPV.
this does not always mean cancer.
abnormal changes may also be called cin1,cin2,or cin3, or mild, moderate or severe.....usually a colposcopy (lazer treatment mostly)and a biopsy are done...
i was a cin2,bordering cin3...i had a colposcopy and a biopsy which showed cancer cells...i had two treatments, never missed a day in work,i was fine...
your doctor will tell you what will happen and the procedure....
every women is differant, but caught early these changes in your cervix can be treated sucessfully...
the web site above gives lots of information and its not scary reading!

So is there a possibility this can be wrong?. I'm a bit confused about the whole papsmear thing, do they just test for hpv when they do a pap? Or is hpv a whole separate thing from having cancer cells? Or is it all the same thing. I've also had a lot of weakness, tiredness, dizziness and hair loss for the past month or so, can this have anything to do with this?. I had labs done and they all came back fine.

If it came back saying you had an abnormal swear... you had an abnormal smear... as I said there could be 100 different types,I am wary about giving you wrong information and can only tell you from my own experience...
The best person to get information regarding your results is your doctor,he/she will be able to explain fully and in detail your results..
I'm sorry I can't give you any more information,as I said,I don't want to give you wrong information.
