We have an Americana dishwasher, around a 2005 base model. It has one cycle choice. When it is run, food particles get on the dishes. Does anyone know if there is a filter to clean, where it is, and how to do it?

Make sure you use a dishwasher detergent with phosphates. http://www.ceep-phosphates.org/Files/Document/83/CEEP%20phosphates%20in%20dishwasher%20detergents.p df

And make sure the sprayer moves at the bottom.
