Have downloaded Itunes software and was wondering if it would cause conflict with my other music and video files

Not really. You have to be careful with the settings in itunes. Generally there isn't a problem however sometimes you set iTunes as default, and then it tries to open all media files or convert them to a iPod format. This can cause slowness, or take up hard drive space.

No actual problems occur, just not what you want happening.
