We just had a contractor renovate our entire upstairs bathroom. The shower floor is 1 inch by 1/2 inch marble pieces. The tile color is a medium blue. When we recently began to use the shower, the tile floor began to become blochy. White or very light shades of blue spot the floor randomly. It looks like crap and the contractor says it is a function of the marble absorbing water at different rates that make it have different color. The contractor is reputable. But if I knew this tile was going to be not a consistent color, I wouldn't have sele ted it. Do you think it could be the tile?

Well, do you think the tile setter did something to it that makes it change colors like magic? If the tiles are clean of grout film there isn't much else it can be. Who selected these tiles? Everyone knows marble is porous right? You know not to set a glass of water on a marble table right?

Have you sealed the tiles and grout yet? That will help reduce the water absorbency rate, do you dry the shower after use? In case you didn't realize it, natural stone in showers isn't such a good idea.
