I live in a house that has no basemnt, it's called a slab. I need to find the outside water shut-off for the winter, there are little windows at the base of the house that are inclosed with plexiglass and under the house is just dirt, you don't think the water shutoff would be under the house do you? Any help would work don't want expensive pipe repairs if it is avoidable. Thanks,

I live in the nTampa Bay Area where all our homes are on slabs.
There are several ways to turn off your water.
1) you can shut the water off at the meter or the pump.
2) walk around your house on the same side as the water meter or the pump and you'll find a pipe coming up out of the ground and going into your home. There should be a shut off valve on the pipe. . That's the house shut off valve. Good luck, Tom

So you want to turn all the water off to the entire home? Or just turn out some lines that run outside.

If the outside faucets are proper ones they will be freeze proof basically since they will go far under the house about 1 to 3 feet under the house to where the water is turned off when you operate the valve.

Many of these outside lines don't have separate shut offs

If you have little windows you are not on a slab, you have a crawl space. If you live in a freezing climate there should be stop valve for the hose bibs some where. They should not be underneath the floor but a lot depends on how old the house is. What do the hose bibs look like? The could be frost proof hose bibs. Show us a picture.

1 to 3 feet under the house
Chuck, I have seen 12" frost proof hose bibs but never that long,
