I have an 11 week old Golden Retriever. I have a good size backyard. Unfortunately have a large tree that's coming down soon due to disease and dead branches, but the large area around it was a mud pit for a few years. So I put in many bags of pine bark I think it was, and now my puppy likes to chew on them, and possibly is eating some too. Do you think this is bad for him? He eats well, is growing well, poops are normal, seems to be doing just fine. Thank you!

If you turn a puppy loose in a yard, it is almost impossible to keep them from chewing sticks, stones, grass, and what ever else is out there including the wiring to the A/C. The sticks don't seem to bother them. I have heard that the coca hull mulch killed some dogs. Keep the area free of scraps of lumber. They will splinter and could puncture the dog's digestive tract. Hope you don't have a deck to chew. Take a good look around for other things you don't want the dog to chew. Some dogs are much worse than others.
