I have a kohler 7000 watt generator that ran when I bought it. It is a gas generator. I brought it on a trip and it would not start. It won't even turn over. I bypassed the solenoid and took power right to the starter, she cranks but will not start. I tried a new solenoid and nothing again. Changed spark plugs as well

Hi,
It is unclear what this generator is used in/for. Is it in an RV? Oil switch or just having the switch to On could be a problem. Isolating the problem is always the best solution; find out where it is!

Hi,
Despite the fact that their website leaves more than a little to be desired; I still think that the oil switch may be your culprit.
There will be a wire to a post on the engine that shuts it off. Disconnecting that will allow it to start. It will also be attached to the oil switch so that will not eliminate it. Taking the wire loose from it will give take it out of play.
RVs' use about twice the oil in the sump as any other application of the engine models.
Peace,
Clarke
