Hello,
I have a girlfriend who is single and pregnant. She is living in California and currently has no reliable monthly income and no real assets (other than a car and some household furnishings). She has catastrophic health coverage that does not cover pregnancy, She also has an inheritance trust account with Charles Schwab that has a value of approximately $100,000. This account was created about 5 years ago.
My questions is: Will her trust account impact her Medi-Cal eligibility or are savings/trust accounts exempt when considering eligiblity for Medi-Cal?

Thank you, Ecokat

If she tells them about the trust account she will be denied.

And if they run an asset search they will find it - why would she ask the taxpayers to pay her bills instead of using her own money?

Is she expecting your child? If so, why aren't you paying at least a portion of her medical bills?

JKT - and the rest of America wonders why California is broke. It's folks like these that bleed the taxpayers dry when they've got plenty of dough. Why not have a "free" kid on the taxpayers? Yep. Great idea. Glad they thought of it.
