I have just installed a bosch tankless water heater. We have a problem with our washing machine activating the heater since the flow rate is not enough, the tankless requires minimum flow rate of 3.5 gallon/minute.

My friend has a Maytag, model #SAV5701AWW and I need to know how to find out the flow rate on that washer, so we can trade if it will do the job.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you very much for your help.

Very Truly Yours,
Alan

You might have to call up Maytag and ask them as this is a technical question that is not found in any appliance manual that I've ever read on washers. Maytag will know.

Three ways to figureout the flow rate for the washing machine:

1. Simply look through the manual for " water consumption" info or call the manufacturer to get the info.
2. Use a simple tool called " flow meter" at the start of the washting machine hose to determine the flow rate.
3. Place the dicharge hose from the macgine in a big bucket. Start a stopwatch when you see/hear whater flowing into the machine and stop the stopwatch when the water stops flowing. At the end when the machine stops, measure the water discharged from the machine into the buket and divide the liters of water you collected in the bucket by the time (from the stopwatch) and you get you flow rate in liters/minut.

I hope that help.
